I "HEART" Taipei (Part 2)

For the second night, we went to a very special teppanyaki restaurant.

It was called Ben's and it was a fusion Japanese and Italian Restaurant.

We had our private room with karaoke area, and bar.

The coolest part was the teppanyaki table because usually it's rectangle shaped but this was circular so everyone could be seated comfortably and we could all see each other!

Me at the circular Teppanyaki table

My sis at the table

One of the first dishes was coming along as a mystery with a lot of steps and process for the sauce and ingredients!

We had a large group so two chefs cooked for us!

This was a mushroom dish that was first sauteed while the green sauce was bubbling beside and then all put together. The green sauce was like a very thick creamy soup with a taste of broccoli or peas and cream.

Then each person ordered their soup. There was the following:

Clear Soup (very clear!)

Pumpkin Soup (VERY GOOD)

Sauce for your food on the left is a type of yellow mustard in light soya sauce and on the right is chopped raw onions in a light soya sauce.

Grilled fish with peppers and mushroom topping served with a foamy white sauce

Asparagus, with fish caviar and abalone

Grilled small lobster with melted cheese!

THE BEST TASTING SALAD EVER!
(It was really refreshing and the sauce was light, creamy and perfect! I wasn't going to eat it at first cos I thought it was weird that it came in the middle of the meal and that it was going to take up stomach space, but I FINISHED IT!)

Dessert

Small but REALLY goooood melting molten chocolate cake and it went perfectly well with the ice cold vanilla ice cream

The smallest cappuccino EVER!

I "HEART" Taipei (Part 1)

In Taipei for the first time in the year of 2010!
Every time I come back to TP I love it more and more!!

It was our friend's birthday so we had a really special private dinner. Here I have included some of the meal's highlights!

Clam appetizer served cold and with some Chinese Yellow Wine
(Couldn't get enough of it!)

Taiwanese special appetizer platter
MY FAV is the orange one on the left. It is dried compressed fish caviar!

This is a special Rooster Testicle soup. EWWWWW
(Supposedly good for men, ...I didn't drink it)

After dinner and some karaoke, we went out for midnight snack.
THIS IS WHAT TAIPEI IS FAMOUS FOR!

This is a well-known soya bean shop and they make sticky rice rolls and all types of soya bean dishes and drinks

You can see below the chefs who are hard at work making everything from scratch by hand!

Hot Pot "Old School"

My friends took my sis and I to this hot pot restaurant they found in TST on the openrice website.
They said that this restaurant was really special because it was famous for two things:

Lamb and Coal burning Hot Pot

This is where the coal is put in and burned and the pot is shaped like a donut around the heat so it boils really hot!

Of course, we don't really eat lamb so we opted for a lot of BEEF!

See all the happy people with their pots?!

Happy Early Chinese New Year!

For upcoming CNY me and my sister did many interviews and features. One of the more memorable features was for Sing Tao Daily. We featured a wonderful restaurant in the Royal Garden Hotel in TST. The Chinese restaurant is located in the basement and they especially prepared a WONDERFUL meal for me and my sis. But as we already had dinner plans with our friends afterwards we could only have a tasting bite from each dish =(.

This is the wonderful chicken that he accompanied with these eggs. The eggs are prepared in a way that the yolk is creamy and just lovely!!! Like caramel flowing onto your tongue. YUMMY!

This is a picture of my sister (right) and the chef (center). If you can see the last dish closest to the camera is in a shape of a flower! It's actually made with jumbo juicy shrimp with a light mango sauce... SSSSSOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

Here you see me taking a pic of this wonderful food so that I can share it on my Lahv food blog.

Girls Night Out at BUSY SUZIE

What happens when you are young, hot and happening? You get invited to the newest and hottest places FIRST!

We got to go to the soft opening of the new Japanese Restaurant BUSY SUZIE.
It's located in TST on Kowloon right beside the beautiful Heritage hotel.

The restaurant was really trendy, and tastefully decorated.
The cool thing about it was the entire restaurant is one circular shape, and everything designed around the curved and circular robatayaki grill.

My sis Cissy and Jess ready to try the new food!

Me and Janice also getting really excited!

The first dish was nice fresh sashimi.
Everything was already in a set menu

The next was very HOT and juicy grilled tomatoes!

All the chefs were from Japan and so they only spoke Japanese. After they grilled the food they pass it to you on what looks like a pizza pan stick.

Everything was piping hot even the juicy Chinese dong gu and green pepper

These were one of my favorites and also my mom's. It's like white/yellow bean and it is really healthy for women. Lightly salted. PERFECT.

GRILLED CHICKEN with a squirt of fresh lime

Grilled fish with Japanese sweet cucumber and a fresh lightly salted and sour sauce

Grilled jalepeno peppers and more mushrooms

Jessica working those muscles to get her next dish!

Janice's turn! Food you have to work for. lol

What did she get? Snail!

Group pic!

Let's continue...

Grilled King Crab

BEEF!! (lahv)

Look at the circular Grill BAR

Last, the dessert~!

What is it?
Fresh Hokaido Milk Pudding

CHEERS! We had good food, good company and good sake!

I also dared Janice to go onto the chef seat to take a pic. All the chefs were on their knees the WHOLE night...ouch!

How do we end the night?
Drinks at DRAGON-i in LKF Central
(Brother restaurant/place to BUSY SUZIE!)
